Sixpence Pies
I learned to appreciate the art of baking from my grandmother. She's a retired baker and cake decorator who, at almost 85 years old, still makes at least 20 dozen sugar cookie cutouts at Christmas every year. What started as a fun hobby and a way to express love and gratitude to family and friends has become a new business venture. In 2018, I created a variety of branding assets and packaging, including business cards, stickers, order forms and note cards.
The name Sixpence Pies is taken from the old nursery rhyme Sing a Song of Sixpence: "Sing a song of sixpence, a pocket full of rye. Four and twenty blackbirds, baked in a pie." I modeled the floral illustration on an old sixpence I saw in a museum, and the colors were inspired by vintage nursery rhyme illustrations.
